Welcome to this week's Design Team Project for Digitally Sweet Challenges! This week we were sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digi Stamp Outlet. We were given a wonderful choice of images to work with to go with a Bingo Card Challenge. Here is a card I made then the line of Bingo card I went with to make it:
This was a pretty basic card design but I just love those colours! Before I coloured the digi stamp, I picked out the paper I wanted to use. I chose a paper from a Colorbok 12" x 12" pad called "Fruit Punch" that I ordered a while back from Create and Craft TV. I knew the digi stamp had lots of detail so a simpler paper design was needed. This diagonal stripe screamed at me as did the plain pink to match. So I dived into my sets of Copic Ciao pens and picked matching colours to use on the stamp. The "SMILE" flag was from the Colorbok paper pad as well. The pad has a few sheets of sentiments, journal spots and alphabet to match. The flourish is a Cheery Lynn die called Fanciful Flourish Left that I cut pieces off of to arrange in the corners...all added to a craft card base.

I Got the All Clear!
At 2:00 we were seen by the Dr again. Both my untrasound and MRI looked good. My arteries are functioning normal with no plaque build up and I have no clots or bleeding on the brain. He said I had a mini stroke. I received a booket about it and how to avoid it happening again which is all stuff I do already. Basically it said mostly about diet and exercise. I do get mild exercise considering I'm in a wheelchair. As for my diet, it's been strict since the 2nd week of January 2014.
I do not eat sugar, any artificial sweetener, caffeine (except for green tea,) wheat, bread, dairy from cows (except for Greek yogurt,) processed food, white potatoes, white rice, red meat. What I do eat is chicken and turkey breast meat only, fish rarely (YUCK), eggs, oatmeal, fruit, vegetables, fresh herbs, nuts, seeds, brown rice, quinoa, barley, lentils (YUM,) all kinds of beans. I use extra virgin olive oil to pour or dip and coconut oil if necessary to cook. I only eat meat or fish 3-4 times per week. All my other meals are vegetarian. I use good quality non stick pans so I don't have to use oil to cook very often. I only drink water (with fresh lemon, lime or cucumber slices), herbal teas and green tea. I stay away from fruit juice as the sugars, although natual, are too concentrated and are bad for my type 2 diabetes.
I know it sounds drastic but I actually enjoy it very much. I use lots of fresh garlic, ginger, herbs and spices to cook with which give great flavour. I stay away from salt if possible but do use it on occasion so I'm not strict. I decided to eat this way for my health and to lose weight. I turn 50 yrs old this year and seems like every time I look around there are all these bad things popping up about turning 50. I also need to lose alot of weight. This has been the best for losing weight. I've lost 3 stone (approx 40 pounds) in 3 months and am still going down. I do allow myself an occasional "cheat" but I don't really think of them as cheats. A few times I've had haloumi or paneer cheese. I've also had white rice a couple of times. I keep the quantity down though.
I try to do a smoothie every once in awhile but to be honest I don't like them. I don't like the texture...thick liquid makes me gag and that's what happens most times I drink a smoothie...BLECK! One day I might get a juicer and try juicing instead. I'd still rather just eat vegetables...lol. I also do alot of "meal prepping." I cook a few times a week and make a bunch of meals at once. I'm home most of the time so I don't have to meal prep for many days at a time plus if I'm in the mood for something different I can make it when I want. but If would like to know more about how I eat and more about how to prepare meals in advance, go on YouTube and search the term "meal prepping," you will find lots of videos showing you how to do it.
Below are a few YT channels I follow for healthy eating and fitness. I enjoy these people and find them very helpful even if I don't follow all their diet tips:
Lean Secrets - http://www.youtube.com/user/leansecrets/video (Brenda Lee Turner is amazing...love her!)
Joanna Soh - http://www.youtube.com/user/joannasohofficial/videos
Psyche Truth - http://www.youtube.com/user/psychetruth/videos (I only watch the videos on food ingredients which I suggest ALL American watch. She goes into all the additives and junk in USA food.)
Thanks for reading my stuff here. Hope you find something interesting!
DSC # 84 - Digital Inspiration
As you've noticed, I've not been around for a couple weeks...not my fault...really it's not! LOL To be honest, I had to go into the hospital for a few day as I had a mini stroke. My left side went tingly and numb so I went to the emergency room. After a whole lotta tests, they confirmed a slight stroke.
No worries though. I am doing fine with very little lasting effects. I've not done much crafting since I've been home as I'm taking it easy. But I did get to sit at the computer and create my DT sample for this week's challenge over at Digitally Sweet Challeges. This week we worked with an image from our sponsor, Limited Runs Digi Stamps, and an inpirational image.
This week is a digital card front for Easter I created in Photoshop. The church digi stamp is from Limited Runs and the colours I used were from the inspirational image. I painted the church image and stained glass window in PS and added all kinds of textures. Thanks for having a look!

Craft Haul & New Card
Hi all! Got a couple things for ya here. First, let me show you a new clean and simple card I made last night. I got inspired from this week's theme at the Less is More Challenge Blog whichis "A Touch of turquoise." Here is my take on the theme:
ENTERING THESE CHALLENGES:
Simply Less is More - A Touch of Turquoise
The Paper Players Challenge - Three Spree
4 Crafty Girls Challenges - Anything Goes
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything Goes
I used some of my new stamps sets that I recently purchased. I have a nice crafty haul video below that shows you more of what I bought too! I basically cut offpart of the card front and replaced it with acetate. I stamped the chevrons on the inside of the card so it showed through the acetate. It's a nice CAS design. My new Peacock Feathers ink pad was a bit blotchy though. I don't know if it was the ink, the clea stamp or just my own terrible stamping technique...lol.
SUPPLIES USED:
TH Distress Ink - Peacock Feathers
Card Base - Papermill Direct: A3 white 250 gsm cardstock
Acetate - from stash

DSC #82 "Anything but a Card"
Welcome to this week's DT project for Digitally Sweet Challenges! DSC has weekly craft challenge that's all about digital! If you love scrapping and cardmaking with digital images, then come join us!
This week we are sponsored by Lunagirl Images. Lunagirl was kind enough to supply us DT members with some gorgeous vintage-y images to work with and here is what I made for you...a box:
It's always nice to have a cute little box onhand for little last minute Mother's Day or birthday gifties. This box is 4" x4" and made of kraft card. I printed and cut out 3 of Lunagirl's images then distressed the edges in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I adhered them to the lid with matt medium, which I think turned out nice as I just LOVE the matt non shiny look. I took a piece of natural sponge and dabbed around the box with watered down Black Soot Distress Ink. I edged and dabbed the whole outside of the box to match.
I took more of the kraft card and made 3 flowers, 2 rolled ones and 1 with a Tonic flower punch. Those got distress and dabbed with the sponge as well. I added tiny Mulberry Crafts rosebuds that I coloured with a waterbrush and Fired Brick Distress Ink. Lastly I tucked in a little brass key.
It came together so quick and easy, hope you like it!
